Pros

Publix is a great company to work for and the benefits/bonus structure isn't too bad either. Stores are remodeled on a continuous basis so you always are around the corner from a refresh. Publix is trying hard to advance and keep up with the competition when it comes to the pharmacy. Programs are always implemented to add services to customers and to provide a better selection of offerings.

Cons

Implementation of some new programs has resulted in a decrease in tech hours allowed. This comes after previously being told by management that our programs will succeed where Walgreens failed because we won't be cutting tech hours. A year later, the cuts have begun. With an increase in services offered and customers, the cuts make getting all of the daily workload nearly impossible. Metrics have been increasingly focused on like other companies and have been used to discipline and move some pharmacists. Some supervisors may vary, but as the management structure in Publix has changed, it seems that the company wants to be like Walgreens and CVS in both the positive aspects, and the negative ones.

Pros

If you WANT only part time work, at least they pay a couple dollars more than other places.

Cons

There are so many it's hard to know where to start. First, expect to be kept at part time for a really long time. Like, forever unless they're desperate. The management team is atrocious. They browbeat the employees and set up a dog-eat-dog atmosphere. There are so few full time spots that everyone is clawing over each other to get them. Then you are told one day there is one ft spot authorized and then you hear there never was a ft spot. The turn over rate for this store has been astounding. Thereally were about 6 people who left stores in Florida because they were told if they relocated they could be full time. When they got here, they were told there was ever any intention to make them full time. All 6 are leaving, or have already left. One young man even had a company form with a box checked showing full time - after he moved from FL to NC (on his own) our store claimed it was a typo. He has worked for Publix since 2007. Favoritism is rampant and not based on quality of work. All in all its perhaps the worst place I've ever worked. I once worked a 13.5 hour shift and am regularly scheduled 10 hour shifts just standing in one spot all day. No thank you at all. Instead, they spent time going over how awful it was that I was 15 minutes late the day my pipes froze and burst. (I called). Expect no raises and few benefits. Once you get into a department, there's virtually no way to cross train because they are so short staffed. Our department started with 6 people, now we have 2. And it's like that in the whole place. Not a good place to work, avoid unless desperate.
