Pros

Good benefits for an entry level job, decent pay, stock, it is a fairly decent short term job if you need to make money quickly, if you are interested in being a truck driver you can take a job at the warehouse do your time for a few years and Publix will pay for your CDL, that’s about all the positives though.

Cons

Lack of work life balance, severely under qualified management, rude coworkers, negative/hostile workplace environment (which is not only overlooked but often times actively encouraged by management) lack of motivation to perform well, everything is seniority based so there is no motivation to move up by trying hard, most people in positions of authority are only there because they’ve been there longer and not because they earned the position, you can be promoted to a position, or assigned a certain duty because you have performed well and someone with more time than you can just take it from you because they’ve been there longer (it is called “rolling”) often times this can happen every few months.

Pros

I had very good department managers that did their best to make our team work well together and make us all feel appreciated (for the most part).

Cons

I had a store manager that denied me pay raises during the pandemic because of a total of 10 tardies in 6 months. This same store manager had my department manager scheduling me in other departments that were short-staffed where their base pay was more than I was making on a regular basis, putting me into full-time territory as a part-timer in school. It was blatantly exploitative and when I brought this up to him, he told me I could quit and find another job, so I started looking. He has since been demoted back to a department manager because so many people complained about him. Still, I can't get over the 2 years during the pandemic where he was able to override the scores on my evaluations that should have earned me a raise, just because I let them overwork me and I came in a few minutes late after just getting out of class.

Pros

My department managers made us take our breaks, and if we didn't take them, we were allowed to go home an hour early. You get to work with cake and pastries all day, which is wonderful! I felt adequately trained for everything I did while I was there.

Cons

I would often work over my shift by an hour, or not be able to take a break due to staffing issues. While our products jumped in price, due to COVID, supply chain, and all that jazz, workers didn't see a cent in raises. My store managers really sucked. Like really really sucked. Everyone in their respective departments would be breaking their backs to get through the day, and my store manager would lie on the floor of her office and take naps. Sometimes for two hours.
