Pros

If your part time you can literally work 1 day a month if you wanted to and you can select any day/time you want to work. Stock plan is nice and the stock dividends do add up over time with your tenure. Some store managers are great and make it tolerable.

Cons

This place is a cult. Most mangers are divorced and miserable working 60 + hours a week and the pay is awful for the amount of work that’s required of you. If you have a bad store manager every day just feels like shoveling water out of a sinking boat. Because they pay thier employees so poorly most your coworkers are careless and lazy slobs. So you inevitably will end up carrying your department and getting 0 help or remorse from the others in fact they will rub salt in the wound and probably work against you. Also a solid 30% of your coworkers are either under 18 and don’t give a crap about anything or they disabled so good luck working with them let alone when you get promoted and 3-5 baggers have Down syndrome and get lost outside with the shopping carts. I was the best at my job in my district by far and worked with easily 5-6 different stores whilst helping them open close or reset. There’s some great people who work there but they are also miserable and there’s no need for it when the ceo is collecting a bonus worth a few million dollars.

Pros

Sufficient staffing most hours of operation

Cons

Employees are paid much less than current rates in most other less expensive stores. Publix charges premium prices to customers while paying employees less than Walmart, Target, and even Aldi, among other stores. Most employees are payed well below minimum wage, and some have been working with great work ethics and dedication for them for over a decade and still don't make minimum wage. Management is spotty and shifts a lot, often leaving lower mgt positions not truly supervised. There's a pattern of the hard working underpaid long term employees taking up the slack off less capable and less caring enployees that get nearly the same pay. Many class action lawsuits against Publix for not paying fairly. A store that expects customers to pay more for their goods should pay employees better to give customers premium treatment, rather than give employees less than Walmart pay and still expect more from them.

Pros

Good pay and retirement plan, could definitely retire as a millionaire if you move into department management or higher, without any kind of higher education.

Cons

Long hours, high stress, no set schedule at all, always worked weekends, low staff with high production. Not a job for the outside of work, social person.
