Pros

Benefits. That is about it. You might meet some nice people, but most people aren't happy working there.

Cons

Lazy Careless Management, False Promises, Horrible Schedules They say they "hire from within". They really mean they hire managers from other companies, and immediately promote them within a month or 2 of working at Publix. They hire people at higher rates than people who have been there longer, and have more experience. So you will see people come in and not know what they are doing, yet they are making $2/hr+ more than associates who have been there for years. So associates who are making less are teaching the new people who are making more how to work the Publix way.

Pros

Short shifts Minimal work Young age requirement to work Various locations Nice uniforms

Cons

Publix has disappointed me. I have been working for Publix for quite some time. Unfortunately, because I'm not super buddies with management or their friends, I always do the work others don't like to do, yet they overlook me. They even compliment my work ethic, yet they don't want to move me up because I have do not have an open schedule like the other "students" that work there. I say this because they barely go to school. I strongly believe that one can excel at work and school simultaneously because I have seen it, therefore I strive for success in both areas. I am honors student with many awards in leadearship and service. In addition, I have received many scholarships for my community and college involvement. Even though, I am highly qualified to become successful at Publix, they seem to deter much growth. I don't understand why I am successful in my community and university, but not at Publix. They only look at the favorites or close family friends to help them move up. I have heard managers talk negatively behind my back and I have not done anything for them to treat me so unfairly. I have realized that unless I want to give up my education, that is the only way I can become successful at Publix because they ARE NOT flexible with students. This company is only for those who do not wish to go to school because only those are allowed to move up. Unless your a business student, the rest can just forget about it.

Pros

Publix has so many opportunities for advancement, and if you really work hard you can move up quickly. I came in as a part-time Grocery Clerk with absolutely no job experience and in six months was promoted to full-time Grocery Replenishment Specialist and I've learned so much. I love the role and there are some really great leaders in Publix. There's huge potential to earn upwards of $13/hr for work that isn't particularly challenging, and as frustrating as it can be, their "no overtime" rules have protected me from the 70 hour weeks in retail's past so I've been able to have a life outside of work. The scheduling is pretty flexible even as a full-time employee. Working part-time for Publix alongside a lucrative hobby or side-hustle is practically perfect. If you're a good employee, you get plenty of hours and can even qualify for benefits (the benefits are pretty great).

Cons

Unfortunately there are also some poor leaders in Publix, and if you get stuck under one (or more!) then there's no one to save you. I ended up in a pretty bad situation where I was really unhappy at a store I was transferred to and then the managers blamed me and didn't let me transfer out even though my old store wanted me back. The situation eventually lead to me leaving the company because I couldn't emotionally handle the situation anymore. Also raises come SLOWLY, but that's not a terrible thing.
