Pros

Some co-workers made it tolerable.

Cons

I had to quit to save my sanity. Cliques are rampant and obviously work to shut others out. No opportunity for growth unless you are part of a (lower) 30-something clique with less than 7-years of experience. They promote who they like regardless of who can actually do the job. Weak middle-management leadership. Many of the them are completely two-faced and act so arrogant as though you should be happy to be in their presence. I've never seen so many fake people in my life. You'd think they worked for Apple because the attitudes are so big.

Pros

Local work environment is friendly, fair benefits, advancement opportunities are good. The IT group overall is very experienced and very helpful in getting tasks completed.

Cons

Since the alliance with Swedish was made and an effort to consolidate IT support between 5 states, there has been a loss of communication and culture clashes between employees and direct reports. When you work at Providence/ Western Washington, have a supervisor at Swedish and a manager at Providence Oregon, I encountered a huge disconnect between employees and management resulting in my leaving Providence.

Pros

Highly Agile work environment almost like a cult. Extreme or Paired Programming for high quality code. Compete, argue, and fight with your co-workers over trivial programming and testing topics to waste time and win! Sounds fun?

Cons

I saw atleast 4-5 contractors let go without notice or adequate notice. One lady was a divorcee and had 2 differently abled children. She was let go on the spot! What a shame. Esp. after she had cleared their interview and worked there for over 4 months! And this group is supposed to to be about compassion and love for humans. The FTE co-workers treat contractors well. The issue is with the company policy and senior management only.
