Pros

Remote work, salary, opportunity for travel, mission/vision, global company, free certifications for employees

Cons

Everything you do is micromanaged. It's the project management institute yet internally its a mess. Creative, talented employees are hired and their spirit comes here to die. There's been two re-orgs/layoffs in the marketing department in 1 year. Once there's a rhythm, it's abandoned and new ways of working are established causing confusion and burnout. Good work is rewarded with more work.

Pros

Employee benefits, some people who are still there were fun to work with. Some ELT members have left or been let go recently.

Cons

Corporate culture is toxic and wears on many employees will to move ahead positively without worrying about our future. PMI is not about it's members and more about the bottom line.

Pros

We were a sinking ship, but since the arrival of the new leadership team, we have taken the lead. Many professionals who were once disgruntled and had lost faith in PMI are now back and enthusiastic about the changes that have occurred in such a short time, whether they are chapter volunteers or project managers attending our events that I have met with. This transformation touches everything from the clear vision for PMI and the profession, to our leadership in AI, to our social media presence and tone, to recent acquisitions like PMOGA and Project Managers Without Borders, to our relationship with academic institutions, to exam security, to our social impact strategy, to our global and regional events, to how we are challenged to focus and deliver higher standards in every aspect of what PMI does etc.... Everything feels refreshing. I was ready to quit two years ago due to poor leadership, constant chaos, and a lack of ambition and vision. Now, my job is much more fulfilling, and the vast majority of my colleagues, including those who have been at PMI for years and had long hoped for a change, feel the same. Last year, with all the momentum, PMI did very well, and everyone I know received by far the highest bonuses ever during their time at PMI. We don’t work only for the money, but I personally prefer this kind of recognition over empty and fake words. The senior leadership team is much more demanding than before, but also very approachable, decisions are no longer postponed indefinitely, and problems are addressed promptly. I feel supported by my manager and the executive member we report to. My experience with the executive team is that they are demanding but fair and supportive. The CEO is a very gifted motivational speaker, he got all of us attending to an offsite on board and excited with just one 20 off-the-cuff speech. This had never happened to me with any of the previous PMI CEOs. The other members of the executive team also have great public speaking skills and are frankly fun to hang out with after hours.

Cons

Remote work has its advantages, but it can also make many of us feel isolated at times. The in-person meetings that have occurred recently have been fantastic for boosting motivation and morale. We need more of them! We still have some overlaps in our organization where responsibilities are unclear, leading to unproductive back-and-forth and alignment meetings. More work is needed to clarify and refine our respective roles and responsibilities.
