Pros

Friendly coworkers and a convenient work environment. Flexible work schedule (WFH). Fast-growing company. Office location Downtown LA. Automatic 3% 401K.

Cons

Management seems to focus solely on growing the company. Management often launches new products/projects that still have many flaws. Hard work and achievement from supporting teams or departments are often overlooked.

Pros

ProducePay has a very exciting mission - to let farmers focus on farming by making all other elements of the industry predictable, transparent and fair. Ultimately this means helping farmers earn more with less risk. And every day, the work we do feels meaningful and important. The team is also incredible. Lots of very talented and smart people. Not only that, they constantly learn from their mistake and adapt the company and culture to become better. For example, we used to work a little too much in silos which would cause teams to sometimes have conflicts (not aligned, different priorities, etc...). This concern was voiced by the team, leadership acknowledged it and created an OKR the following quarter to ensure better collaboration was a key focus for the organization. Another very exciting aspect especially now is the growth of the company. We are hiring a lot and it is creating lots of opportunities for people to move up and gain more responsibilities.

Cons

We are experiencing very fast growth and it leads to some issues. We need to change our processes, improve our onboarding experience for new employees, continue to get better at collaboration (especially now that we have so many more people). Also, work is pretty intense right now. I am confident it will dial down at some point but definitely quite hectic these days. If you are expecting a traditional 9 to 5, this is definitely not the right place for you (right now).

Pros

- Amazing Team: smart, diverse, no-ego, hard-working, super fun individuals, eager to learn and make the world a better place. - Empowering Mission: there are so many businesses out there solving fake problems you sometimes forget the world has tons of real ones still unsolved such as “how are we gonna feed the planet by 2050?”. Making growers more successful definitely moves the needle. - Strong Vision: Sometimes you know where you’d like to go but you’re not too sure how to get there. That’s not a problem we have at ProducePay. The path to success is clear and we are hitting each milestone one after the other. - Always Delivering: The company has been growing tremendously for the past 5 years I have been there. I started before our Seed Funding and we just closed our Series C. No matter the problems that got in our way we found ways to fix things, learned from our mistakes and moved forward. - Result Driven and Solution Oriented: At ProducePay we have clear team OKRs and KPIs set based on the company’s vision for the year. You’ll be judged by your results and not just given to-do’s. We decide which problems are the most important and how to solve them and reach our goals as a team. We experiment, collaborate, track results and in the end, make it happen together.

Cons

- Organizational Struggle: As a startup growing really quick we went through lack of structure and processes and it took us time to figure out how to organize certain departments. I’ve seen tremendous progress in that area over the past year though. I think we are finally ready for hyper growth. - Rough Patches: Over the years we had to go through unexpected turns of events: major defaults, investor plays, more recently the pandemic and it led to drastic moves. Looking back I think we could have handled some matters differently but that’s easier said than done in the middle of the fire. - Lots of work: While the work/life balance is decent, there is an infinite amount of work and problems to be solved. It can get overwhelming and stressful as everyone is always busy. That’s not for everyone.
