Pros

I grew up in a country where Philips brand was highly appreciated. Working for them was like a dream came true. Professionally , I've learned a lot . I was lucky enough to have two managers highly supportive , and I was able to climb on the company hierarchy as well.

Cons

Big company with strong culture and highly developed political networks. That, sometimes, get in the way and even prevail the commercial aspects. That might be true for all large corporations, but I wouldn't know as Philips is the first MNC that I'm working for. Despite the global coverage, the company mentality is strongly European centric. The perception in the regions is that ideas coming from a group in China (for example) are considered, by default, less relevant compare with something that is developed in Netherlands. For the same reasons trends in the regions other than Europe are also not well monitored and that had significant impact on the business.

Pros

It's a pretty laid-back environment and they really care about their employees. Benefits are reasonable as well as their work-life balance. I've learned a great deal working here and have had numerous opportunities for growing and developing. Their performance management process is one way that we are evaluated for obtaining the goals we have set for the year. It's a pretty laid-back environment and they really care about their employees. Cons

The Dutch leadership is not often in touch with its US employees. Unfortunately, there have been and will be layoffs throughout the country. It's a shame because the company has such potential. They put too much focus on their healthcare division and not enough on the other areas. Bonuses have also gone down. The Dutch leadership is not often in touch with its US employees. Pros

Philips Medical has a competent technical staff that is at theforefront of some interesting technology. For that reason I would say that Philips Medical is an engineering driven company with technology that is superior to its main rivals, Siemens and GE.

Cons

Since it is an engineering driven company, customer needs are sometime forgotten. Also Philips Medical has the lowest marketing to engineering ratio and as such they do not do a good job of developing products based on customer needs rather that the coolest technology. They also don't do a good job marketing their products.
