major attrition in 2012

Pros

The company provides a strong, defined career path for young new hires (although older hires struggle to be recognized for their contributions and commitment). The company also offers a broad and robust learning and development program.

Cons

The phrase "if you're not Dutch, you're not much" has never been more true than it is now. Local (as in North American) employees are leaving at an astonishing rate - numerous in Q1 and Q2, and a lay off announced in the last few days will further erode morale and engagement of those remaining. Dutch employees in the US are brought in to replace those who have left or been forced to leave and they rarely suffer the same fate as local employees, being airlifted out to a secure job in Holland or elsewhere when the going gets tough. Dutch people are regularly promoted while in the US, while other long standing, hi-performing employees are left in the dust. Philips Consumer Lifestyles has boosted its engagement ratings by requiring managers and supervisors to include engagement scores in their incentive-linked annual goals - employees (human nature) inflate their engagement ratings to increase their incentive payments. Draw your own conclusions about this.

Pros

the brand value is quite high. Philips is a fairly good pay master. work culture is awesome. Best part is you get a chance to rate your manager.:) and your feedback is taken seriously by the management. In one sentence I would say,its a people friendly company.

Cons

With ten positive things in Philips you have a couple of negatives things too. I think its slow when comes to innovation. In this cut throat competition, a company has to have an aggressive marketing strategy. Healthcare & lighting are stable dept. consumer lifestyle may not be a very good choice.

Pros

Very good culture, work-life balance, immense opportunities to learn & grow, highly engaged employees, very good HR policies & practices in place. For those who have the urge to excel, this is one of the right place. Provides good opportunities for career growth combined with good work-life balance. The growing number of employees who have been here for more than 10 yrs is a testimony to this. Has a strong presence in CSR activities too

Cons

work place politics in few teams - of course, this is prevalent in any other organisation, too
