Pros

Good benefits-for now... Get an opportunity to work with some really competent people, and get to work with people from the other side of the fence as well...

Cons

- Production workers afraid to report injuries because of risk of losing job, in spite of Pfizer's rants about an open policy. - Company won't allow any current Pfizer employee to give a job reference to departed employees, they can be fired for it. Yet Pfizer requires incoming job candidates to provide references from previous employers..... -Constant bickering, turf protection and silo behaviors within and between departments, divisions, and sites. -No real integration between Pfizer and the companies it has acquired, other than gutting them out and dismissing as many of the 'outsiders' as possible. -Globalization of the business will continue to decrease stateside opportunities in the future. Don't plan on staying there.

Pros

We produce drugs that help people in a broad array of therapeutic areas. Some of the smartest people in the world work at Pfizer. The environment is very collegial for the most part. The company is a global company with a presence in many countries, and a headquarters office in the middle of Manhattan. The company's stock pays a nice dividend.

Cons

The company is in a state of constant change and disruption, so it is very difficult to get things done. Pfizer's stock price seems to constantly get worse. Many promotion decisions seem to be made without a fair and transparent process, and are often not meritorious.

Pros

Pfizer has great benefits and is family friendly. Pfizer recently formally enacted flex hours so most professionals are off on Fridays or at least Friday afternoons. The vacation plan is decent and the medical coverage is excellent with free prescription drugs and low copays for the doctor. I found that local managers are willing to work with you to accommodate time off for family matters. Professionals can set their own start times each day to get home before the school bus. Like I said really family friendly. I've taken time off during the day to attend a school activity and just worked later in the evening.

Cons

There is a paranoid feeling about the whole place. Every year brings another round of layoffs. Every business unit seems to get hit by these layoffs with strict percentage cuts now matter how lean the group was before the layoff announcements. Also pay increases are running less than inflation for the past four or five years. A worker in their twenties would be hard pressed to make a career in the current environment. Everyone has lost a good friend to the downsizing and the age of an average worker gets higher every year because of the hiring freeze in place.
