Significant decline

Pros

Vacation time (when you are actually able to take it) and stock options.

Cons

This company has seen a significant decline over the last 15 years. I used to be so proud to work here, but the shift in culture and quality that I have seen over the past 10-15 years has beens significant and negative. Time and again the company has prioritized dollars over quality, which is incredibly worrisome to me as we literally make pharmaceuticals for people. Now they are prioritizing dollars for the board over literally thousands of employees, after an executive misstep in the assumption that the COVID vaccine would sell bette than it has. Employees who are talented and tenured and have worked on lean teams with ridiculous red tape are being let go while the executive team caters to the board and continue chasing profits from 2021. This is not the premier company it used to be.

Pros

- Good work life balance unless you are in the thick of a project - Stable(ish) job, except for when there are layoffs because the people in-charge messed up - Good commute as going away from the city - Good amount vested in your retirement if you stay past 3 year mark

Cons

- Absolutely ZERO investment in work culture. Even holiday events are bring your own food, forget about holiday parties - People have been working here for 20+ years, so very nepo culture as in some get promoted twice in two years and others are holding the same position for 10+ years even when you can see everyone works hard - Compensation does not match what other companies around here pay, especially since Cambridge is so close. Even their own site in Cambridge has way better benefits.

Not on a good course

Pros

1. If you like the big pharma atmosphere, this is one of the few gigs in town 2. There are talented individuals here and across the company who have invested years into developing their craft (pension used to help retain this talent)

Cons

1. Constantly trying to adapt to organizational change, wondering when your time is up 2. Governance and process stifles creativity and zaps energy 3. Morale was low and is lower now since legacy Seagen colleagues are treated preferentially
