      Pros

      Some colleagues are true field-leading experts. If you get your own realm and your immediate manager protects it a bit, you can get to do amazing things.

      Cons

      Promotion system is based on politics. Not on work, merit, leadership or productivity. Higher management keeps feeding the middle management stacks, as well as their own. The Director/Manager-to-Engineer ratio has to be among the highest in the industry.
