Large corporate company struggling like a small business
Pros
The new CEO Ryan seems to care a lot about the employees and making it a great place to work. Since the company moved to remote and hybrid work in 2020, they are investing in new people and culture leaders to help with engagement and support as it's severely needed. The company also lives its mission as best as possible, and that is inspiring.
Cons
Most people I know feel under-resourced and underpaid. There's not much motivation to pay top wages since so many people want to work for the company and many people feel they are working the jobs of 1.5-2 people. Burnout ensues and they leave. The ideas behind the book "Let My People Go Surfing" might only apply to the smallest groups who work in Ventura. It also feels like there is very little opportunity for advancement. People are encouraged to apply to new roles over and over again and it causes frustration which leads to people leaving. It also feels like you're boxed in with your role, under so much bureaucracy to get anything changed for the better. I've seen teams speak about the same issues for years on end without any movement. What seemed to be a company that is a leader in its people years ago has been lost in my opinion. They are finally trying to get up to speed with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, as they are so far behind other companies. Their benefits and perks are also outdated and very standard with most corporations in my opinion.
