Pros

When I first started working for Paramount, I had a great boss and supportive team. He didn’t have a traditional corporate background so he wasn’t fear mongered into the company’s chokehold. He managed to get the entire team promotions and advocated for all of us which is the trait you rarely see in an executive. Ultimately HR didn’t like him making waves, so he was eventually pushed out of the company. Pros - Enjoyed working on the Lot - flexible work schedule - continued education reimbursement when I pursued a graduate program

Cons

Where do I start… Two years into my job I was transitioned to another team which I learned a lot from but to my new management I felt like a discarded step child. I took on a lot of work and really helped reshape the productivity of this team (the company had gone through one of their many re-orgs) - when the time came to approach upper management about a promotion it was a dreadful experience, I would always come prepared with a list of duties and why I deserved a raise. My direct manager always implied that he would advocate for me, but I truly think he didn’t do anything. The VP of the team would always scoff and would always make me feel what I was asking for was outrageous. “let’s revisit this in a few months” was the classic line I received three different times. Disappointing. Here are my cons: - Volatile: this company has gone through so many reorganizations and mergers it will make your head spin - Lack of Promoting Internally: It is really hard to get promoted. Paramount would rather hire someone on the outside then utilize the resources it already has to promote someone who already knows how things work. You would untimely save the company money and time by promoting within. C-suite Management: Let’s discuss the elephant in the room… The 3EOs. 20% company wide layoffs, bad business decisions leading to employees becoming collateral damage all while C-suite thrive with their golden parachute packages and un-incentivized bonuses. You expect us to do the job of 5 people, when you have 3 people doing the job of 1 person? Make it make sense. American Corporations: You have 2 Cows. You sell one and force the other to produce the milk of 4 cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyze why the cow has died.

Pros

Nearly everyone I worked with at Paramount Pictures were great to work with. Employees are generally friendly and enthusiastic about their work.

Cons

Three co-CEOs, but thousands of layoffs of people who actually make their money. Make it make sense.
