Pros

If the firehose method of learning is not for you but you still want to make it to the airlines, this is your path forward. Teach students for as long as you need to in order to solidify your own knowledge and help prepare candidates to fly the CRJ. It's very rewarding on all fronts. Other pros include a generous salary, meal reimbursement, full health care options, and all the same flight benefits pilots receive, as well as a fully supportive management staff.

Cons

If the end goal is a flight seat you do not build seniority as a ground instructor. You must wait until you receive a class date. Only other con (but acceptable) is that even though this is a commutable position it is subject to the needs of the company so there may be a lot of time away from home unless you live locally.

Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback. We’re glad to hear you’ve found the Ground Instructor role rewarding and that the support, benefits, and experience have been positive. We appreciate your notes on commuting and scheduling, and we’ll share this with the team as we continue improving the role and overall experience. Thank you for being part of PSA.
