From the beginning of my tenure there it was made clear that I should be actively supportive on political affairs to avoid confrontation with some coworkers and specially supervisors and managers.Soon it was evident that the only concern for management was to showoff political support as a way to keep their positions and for that purpose they should increase pressure on subordinate staff (They made us to attend frequent rallies, disburse cash “donations” for campaigns, transport people to their voting centers during elections, and such) and use company's assets such as vehicles.
Managers and supervisors traditionally acted as prevaricators, with little regard for their professional duties, limiting themselves to basically “firefighting” to keep up production levels with minimum investments, there was a very limited extent of basic training, so me and the other fellow new engineers had no support from experienced personnel nor a career development plan from the company. Basically we were left alone to learn what we could by ourselves if we wanted to contribute some way.
