This once great company has lost its way

Pros

The majority of the people who do the day to day tasks are great people. Benefits package is reasonable. Nice fitness facility.

Cons

I work in Business Technology (IT) and the management is terrible. New CIO (2 years ago) has restructured a couple of times and seems to be guessing each time. The BT management does not care about people and newer "yes" people seem to get promoted instead of people actually doing a good job. You will either be expected to work long hours with little reward or will have nothing to do as management does not have a clue what is going on. The management style is by reports as opposed to them actually being involved with whats going on. Even if they attempted to be involved most are not technically capable of understanding. CIO and senior BT managers have no leadership skills or vision.

Does not have a supportive office environment and expects a lot out of you. Many people work through the weekend and over 80 hours a week.

PCL is a great company to work for. I've been given many opportunities to learn and develop in my career here. I really enjoy the work I do because I'm given the latitude to make a difference. I'm very thankful to have a supportive manager and team at PCL.
