Pros

If you have a family they’re really understanding about your schedule flexibility but if you don’t have a family, they expect more of you. Not great for work-life balance or hours. But they’re more progressive when it comes to the construction industry - females in the field, more diverse hires, but less qualified applicants. Good for a long term career if you buy into their shares program but you won’t make a size-able profit until the 7th year.

Cons

The Denver district is one of the worst but the further you get from it, the better the company culture gets. 55 hours is the minimum they expect you to work but legally they won’t let you record more that 40. There’s no overtime pay, they pay you on the lower end of the pay scale and expect you to “pay dues.” If you stick around for poor treatment for about 5 years you’ll gain enough clout to have upper management’s respect.

Pros

PCL is a great place to start learning and building your career. I would recommended this company to anyone really wanting to learn. You do not have a structured learning process or structure with mentors, so you really get out of it whatever you put in. Benefits are great, salaries are not known for bein great. Performance is reviewed on a structured basis which is very helpful.

Cons

As with most construction companies, your flexibility and willingness to move are assumed. You will need to be open to that. Salary like I mentioned is not great and there is no transparency. The company is definitely only concerned with making money. Share offers can be great, however, upper management has it's own set of shares with higher quantity and much higher return which is, in my opinion, disgusting. Promotions are typically slow in San Diego district as there are quite a few people but not enough jobs to support everyone moving up or advancing.
