Pros

It's really in the headline, the people are great and really care, the working conditions are not cushy but senior management cares to make sure we're able to do our work.

Cons

The downside is the global NGO / charitable landscape, it's a hard time to be a NFP given the reduction in global funding towards NGOs, and the difficulty that large older NGOs have to attract donors in a rapidly evolving landscape

Oxfam retail is not fit-for-purpose

Pros

Working with colleagues and volunteers who are very supportive and values driven.

Cons

Senior management have very little understanding of what goes into running a shop; shops are severely under-staffed, under-resourced, and it is often necessary to work through your unpaid lunch breaks, and put in a lot of unpaid overtime. A healthy work/life balance is not possible in this job.
