      opposite of a startup. Great for intern or recent graduate new to corporate world.

      Pros

      work/life balance, training, tolerance (age/ethnic/gender, seriously not just superficially). Benefits are excellent. location and food. Great for interns, because you get guidance and mentoring that you would not get a smaller company. Wide variety of people, so you can find friends here. It's a community unto itself.

      Cons

      Hierarchical, restrictive rules for example you can't just download and use software even for investigation/research purposes. This can cause inefficiencies. Sometimes can feel like a cog in a big machine, so I can see why people leave.

      Pros

      Great co workers and great network right off the bat (helpful if you're relocating). Great support system and great resources if you know where to look. Competitive salary and nice benefits. More senior management seems genuinely interested in your development.

      Cons

      Internal procedures can be a jungle to navigate. It can be challenging to get your hands on the information and tools you need. It's a big company. "Company culture" seems to be a hot buzzword right now, but the sheer size of the company makes it hard for any "culture-building" initiatives to have any immediate impact.
