Pros

As someone who can often treat myself badly in service of working more, I have found unexpected allies everywhere at OpenTable. Multiple co-workers (and definitely my manager) has encouraged me/us to take sick days when in doubt, including mental health days when the news hits hard. This makes me feel valued beyond what I can contribute to the bottom line, which is unfortunately mostly a new experience for me after 7 years in this industry. I have enjoyed working with almost everyone I have come across. People are kind, eager to help, fun, energetic, caring.

Cons

There is definitely a cost to being a relatively old company — lots of structures, silos, approval processes that have me thinking "there has to be a better way" on a weekly basis. At the same time, I have seen signs of awareness of the silos problem, and some willingness to address it. I am still new here, so the jury is still out, but I have hope.

Pros

I love that we have drinks and snacks in the refrigerator, I can trust my supervisor and colleagues, we have a really nice work environment, and I the fact that I get paid when I got sick.

Cons

I would like to have some time scheduled to read with calm the KA's we have, so I can have all this information without checking them all the time. I would also love to have more time scheduled for my training I have a lot of them and I never have time to do them ):

Pros

Work life balance is a nice to have.

Cons

Constantly changing teams across the board and forcefully make you move to positions you don't want to be in. Salary decreases after tenured years of working there. Pretend like they care about employees and really don't. Managers are worried about their upward mobility. There are so many more companies out there with work life balance and remote options. OpenTable thinks that is enough, but unfortunately it is not. Look elsewhere.
