Very, very difficult to gain recognition, respect, and to move up within the company.
Management pushes employees to obtain as many "Old Navy Card" Applicants as possible within the day, bribe us with petty gifts if we get any one to sign up for one. Have begun giving the person with the most ONC Applications in the week the opportunity to make their own schedule for the following week. Good opportunity for hours, but creates a lot of tension among associates.
As stated before, many of the associates develop friendships at work, and although this surely helps the time go by, it creates many cliques. Even among management and associates there are cliques.
The overall WORST part about working at Old Navy is the pay. Depending on the interviewers feelings about the interviewee, people are hired on at different levels. There are people who have been working for the company for 3+ years who get paid less than the new hires. Management gives us .07 - .50 ( A JOKE!) raises every June depending on our work, but again, this is all up to the managers view of each individual associate.
