Pros

When I worked at Old Navy, I made a lot of friends. There was a very tight-knit employee group. We were also offered health insurance as part timers, which was wonderful. Some of my managers were great and very understanding of the line between person life and work. I also got a raise almost immediately after working there. The managers gave useful feedback on my job performance as well.

Cons

For some time while working there, I was a minor and was not supposed to work past nine o'clock every night. However there were many nights where I was forced to stay until 10 or later to help clean up the store without any choice.

Pros

Discount is good, pay ok. There is a good feeling that you are providing a service to the customer. Community involvement is great.

Cons

Quality of Field Management is poor. The stress runs downhill, and is pushed off to the stores, and the store managers. The answer is always to just work more.

Pros

It has great employee benefits still like health benefits and PTO, etc. There are still great advantages like benefits for same-sex partners and other great things that have made this company an advanced and thoughtful company to work for.

Cons

They have recently taken a down-turn because they are focusing on the bottom dollar in the bad economy. They have lost the focus on the employee and turned their focus towards the all mighty dollar. They say they are focused on customer service, when really they will do anything they can to berate and stress out management to do whatever it takes to "force" and "cheat" to get the right customer service numbers in, or else they will be threatened with their jobs or be put under corrective action. This is simply a shame. I have seen people with decades of experience (DM's and senior management) leave the company recently due to these changes and it's sad. Don Fischer, who founded the company, and just recently passed away, would be so saddened to see this happening to his legacy.
