Terribly unorganized, unfair and unprofessional management
Pros
Decent salary for part time
Cons
-THIS REVIEW IS FOR NOVOTEL MONTREAL CENTRE I've worked several jobs and this has to be the most unfairly I've ever been treated. - working front desk reception is terrible if you are a student. Your schedule is not set and is subjected to change the day you are working at the last minute and happens often due to unorganized management. - 3 weeks into working there, I had asked for clarification of the schedule as i had agreed with the front desk manager - Sonya Bertoli- that i was to work part time but was scheduled for 48 hours in a week. Upon mentioning it, she was extremely and visibly upset that I had asked for clarification and suggested I quit If i couldn't work more than the hours previously agreed upon. she then made no effort to speak to me after to clarify the situation/misunderstanding. Her solution was to fire me and the reason she gave was that I continuously did not accept last minute shift changes and cancellations (which she repeatedly did). Keep in mind I hadn't been working for more than a month. - As i started to work and make friends with the staff, I was quickly warned that your life revolves around the hotel and they do not accomodate you whatsoever. Thus, explaining the high turnover rate and lackluster organization. - I was continuously lied to as well by Sonya regarding the night training that involves 3 overnight work shifts that supposedly everyone had to do for training. Upon asking people who had been working there for 1 year plus, they had never done the training before and were told they did not have too. - You also cannot leave the hotel while working as Sonya "does not like it" and are forced to eat the leftover scraps they have for clients in the buffet which is taken off your pay checks which I also was not told. - believe me when I tell you, unless you got nothing going on with your life and need work asap save yourself the pain of applying here.
