Prevented form working by IT

Pros

In principle interesting projects and decent pay benchmarked to an industry average.

Cons

We are asked to do amazing data science and machine learning, but IT refuses to install anything modern like tensorflow, keras, xgboost and so on the severs. "Hey, just work on your 'fantastic' 8 GB dual core laptop that barely functions due to all the surveillance programs on it." Lots of talk and back-slapping, but management does not actually help associates get the roadblocks to doing actual work out of the way, then they bemoan a lack of a start-up mentality. If I were in a start up, at least I would have the tools to do my job without endless fights with an incompetent IT organization. There's also the fantastic conference meetings using Skype and VMR that are a constant nightmare. **IF** you manage to connect, you will randomly be unable to speak or unable to share your screen or be randomly disconnected or … It's amazing, free Skype on my personal phone is better than what we have in the shiny headquarters.

Pros

year bonus, benefits like multisport paid, home office policy, free days over Christmas. Very good and quick career opportunities for unscrupulous but loyal types.

Cons

terrible management, bossing, mobbing on high level. Structure of management - they are very carefully picked people with no skills, but big loyalty, rather aggressive behavior and covering carefully each other. Colleague of mines tries to report incidents few times to HR, Basel HQ, Unions... but no one will really help you.

Mid management is insane

Pros

Good flexibility, less work. you can skip your work, but you can't skip your participation in fun activities.

Cons

If someone is looking for an opportunity in PLS-MES that may ruin someone's career as an analytics professional. The GH level exposure is hard to get even if you are competent to do your daily job perfectly. Sometimes you need to find other ways to reach out to the limelight. Analytics is in very toddler stage and it already nipped in the bud. Compared to the the industry level, Novartis MES Advance analytics light years behind and GH does not even care to grow. A so called " data science" team is set up for doing some "deep learning" stuff, but there are thinkers, doers are very less in number. Even if you are a doer, if you can't flaunt, someone will just take your advantage and will get recognized.
