Pros

The Benefits are excellent in my opinion, if you are applying for a position that requires you to work in the field, the company provides you with a vehicle completely their expense. Traditional Health, Dental, Vision and 401k.

Cons

* not reflective of all positions at Nielsen* I became a field rep back in 2022 for Nielsen and over the course of 3 years the position changed drastically. It is a performance based company period, and although that is the norm and standard for most company's , the particular position i had in my opinion had a unfair grading curve for field reps. you are responsible for uncontrollable actions/variables that take place in a panelists home. for example. Once you install the equipment in the home, they are excepted to log in to the system using a remote you give them. If they do not log into the system for prolonged periods of time it counts against your performance. if they decide to change any device in their home that relates back to Nielsen equipment it is your responsibility to reach out to them and schedule an appointment to make sure everything is working properly, if this isn't done you will acquire something called a 'fault' which counts against you. not to mention the challenge of getting access into the panelist's home in the first pace can be challenging for obvious reasons. Hours are all over the place. it is not a traditional 9-5, you can have an appointment to get to at 9 in the morning, and another one at 6pm in the evening. this may not matter to some but please be aware of this. you also have very little control over this , there is a remote team that acts as a scheduling/dispatch team for all field reps. you are also expected to store all the equipment that is installed at the panelists home personally. there is no warehouse for the equipment and although small in size can start to add up in your home or storage space over time. lastly , my last day working for Nielsen as a field rep was June 2025, up until that point there were different aspects of the field team. Member reps and field reps. member reps acted as door to door salesmen , they ware responsible for obtaining panelists in to Nielsen ratings, Field reps were more of the technicians they installed and maintained the equipment in the home, this led to a immense amount of miscommunication and over promising . homes are offered an incentive in the form of visa gift cards, by the member reps in order to close the sale or deal, this led to the promising of hundreds of dollars per home, which set an unrealistic expectation for the owners of the home. for the field rep left to deal with it. in the last few months of my time working for Nielsen, they started to condense down and merge these two positions into one. almost completely eliminating the member rep position and merging it into the field rep position, so as a field rep you will not only be installing the equipment but you will also be selling most aspects of being a panelist. Please be aware that most of this pertains to being a Field Representative although due to recent changes to the position could be called something different. I believe it is now called a Field Sales Representative.
