Pros

Great Advisors, some good people.

Cons

This was a place where people were rewarded for bad behavior towards other employees. If you were great at your job and didn't engage in politics or throw people under the bus on a regular basis, you were walked on, forced out or would toil in horrible obscurity. It was the most awful place I have ever worked for.

Pros

Working with my work colleagues is a pleasure. Salary is nice is you have 15+ years of tenure, the company has a fitness center at no cost.

Cons

Current management in disarray through Transformation. Very low morale, and job stability is very risky. Many employees have been told their jobs have been eliminated and outsourced to onshore and offshore companies. Unfortunately, once a fine institution with a strong and considerate senior management team, now current mgmt is bringing in external mgmt consulting to manage and outsourcing many jobs. Not a good place to be at.

Pros

New York Life has a great training program. It is a solid company finacially, people recognize the name and respect it. Good place to enter the financial services industry, get your licenses, learn selling,

Cons

After six months, the company charges for the cube, phone, computer center, technology, mail box, costs are about $350.00 per month. If you have some sales fall off, and you will, its easy to be negative on your ledger. You will be pressured to sell to your friends and family, your "natural market", so people you know will stop taking your calls. They try to position the job as financial planning but in the end it is insurance sales. Every concept is handled with an insurance product. The company makes it seem like they are selective about who they bring on but they will hire anyone without a criminal past. It is a revolving door, many people leave within the first year, even people with over two years leave so it is not just new people who couldn't cut it. Desperation is the fuel that drives most of the people there. Most people are not making much money. I am nine months in and am looking to get out!
