Pros

You learn the truth about what goes on in recruitment

Cons

Working hours don’t add up. The day is 8am-5pm (9hr days) with a full lunch hour not allowed, as I quote you are told ‘if you take the full hour you are already halfway out the door’. Make of that what you will. To add to this, you are expected to arrive 15 minutes early at least and likely staying behind until 5:15/5:30pm each day. This totals to 9h 30m - 10h days, bringing weekly hours to almost 45 hour weeks, but paid a 37 hour week salary (minimum wage). You soon learn about the fast track scheme, however, once you achieve your promotion many incentives are taken away. For instance, the ‘company car scheme’ was taken away conveniently as soon as I reached this level. When I noticed others at the same level, receiving it. Bringing it to my next point on a biased treatment of staff, depending on who you are. The chern rate of staff leaving is very high and seems from previous reviews this has always been the case. You see many people come and go very quickly. Expect to lose all personal relationships outside of work due to the extreme work life balance. This role destroyed my personal relationships outside of work. I also seen this happen to many others. A final note, I can confirm the reviews about bonus are true. Never on time, many excuses as to why not, however for some it seems to always come on time and in abundance depending on who you are.

Thank you for sharing your experience. While it’s difficult to read, we do appreciate your candid feedback and regret that your time with us left you feeling this way. We take concerns around fairness, work-life balance, and inclusivity very seriously. These are foundational values we aim to uphold, and we’re committed to continuously reviewing our policies and practices to ensure all employees are treated equitably and with respect. If there have been inconsistencies in our processes whether related to bonus timelines, progression incentives, or hours, we acknowledge that these are areas we must improve. We also understand that recruitment is a demanding industry, and while many thrive in the fast-paced environment, we recognise that it’s not the right fit for everyone. Your feedback will be shared with our leadership team as part of our commitment to creating a fair and supportive workplace. We sincerely wish you all the best in your future endeavours and thank you again for helping us reflect and grow.

Pros

Good cafe downstairs and near the train station

Cons

When I left, there was a significant outstanding bonus due to be paid to me, despite promises, I only received roughly 15% of it, a month late after chasing and when I questioned them, they ignored me completely and haven't contacted me since. Also, they have been funny with paying bonus late with other employees who worked with me at the time. I was paid less than all employees when I joined regardless of experience, but I was the youngest and a 'pay rise' happened which just moved me from minimum wage to the new minimum wage, while actively advertising trainee roles (below my role) for more basic salary than I was on. They use the word 'Fast-Track' which is a good scheme, however when you meet the targets they set for you, all of sudden they say they were not agreed and they get moved up so you don't get the increase in salary. There is also extreme pressure with targets from a very early stage and it only get worse the more you work there. I was also told new trainees were being told I had no qualifications, which could of been in a jokey way, however It's an absolute complete lie and I did not appreciate it. Total lack of credit for what you do, Lack of appreciation, severe favouritism towards certain employees. Expect contact out of hours, I was repeatedly rang at 6am for a week whilst my boss was away and also on most Sundays. Worst work-life balance I've ever had. Do not trust anyone.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly sorry to hear that your time with us left you feeling disappointed and undervalued, that’s not the experience we want for anyone within the business. We take the concerns you've raised seriously, particularly around bonus payments, fairness in pay and how performance milestones are communicated and handled. We are actively reviewing our internal processes to ensure that commitments made to employees are transparent, timely, and consistent. We also deeply regret if you ever felt disrespected or unfairly treated. Comments that undermine someone's qualifications, even if made in jest, are not appropriate and do not reflect the inclusive culture we strive to build. Similarly, expectations around work-life boundaries must be clear and respectful contacting team members outside of reasonable hours is not something we condone, and we will continue working to reinforce those boundaries company-wide. While we can’t change your past experience, your feedback will be shared with senior leadership as part of our commitment to creating a fair, respectful, and supportive workplace. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours and thank you again for your honesty.
