      Struggling in developing an expertise in one field

      Pros

      You can work at home and work on flexible schedule if you like.

      Cons

      People are treated just like a piece of resource. You got moved around between projects and different units a lot. This makes it difficult for employee to build up the expertise.

      Pros

      Flexible work conditions (hours, location). Semi-annual review process is pretty well done --- definitely a meritocracy. Company does annual survey of employees to try to improve, but then it doesn't necessarily act on the results. Interesting projects. Pretty good support for personal development.

      Cons

      Not as much collaborative engineering as I had hoped. Compensation adjustment pool varies randomly from year to year so increase in level of performance doesn't necessarily result in increased compensation.
