For the most part, everyone in the store is friendly and approachable. 25% discount is also a pro :) as is the uniform allowance.
Cons
It's an absolute miracle that Next are such a successful company considering the deplorable organisation of my store. I was so excited to start work at Next and even happier to know that so much emphasis was put on training (or so they kept reiterating during my induction day) but once I actually started work I realised that this was a massive lie. I've been working in Next for a couple of months now and despite asking multiple managers about my 10 shift training programme, nobody has ever started it with me. Unfortunately this means I can only do a few tasks which I can complete quite quickly leaving me bored to death for the rest of my shift. In terms of shifts, there are hardly any full time staff which means that wages are absolutely crap for the majority of the staff who are part time, including myself. The store I work in is overstaffed which is obvious on the faces of the staff on the shop floor who are all bored stupid standing around doing nothing/trying to look busy fixing clothes on hangers because if they look like they have nothing to do they get shouted at. There is also a huge lack of communication between managers causing misunderstandings/unresolved issues between managers causing a hostile environment for floor staff to work in.
