      Top-down “Simon Says” culture in a highly silo’d business

      Zero autonomy Dictatorship Conservative Silo business factions Terrible development platform and infrastructure Too many long in the tooth employees in middle management who have been there for years Simon Wolfson has far too much of a say on how the user-interface of the website should look and feel Simon says culture Old school work practices The opposite of Agile Lots of teflon shoulders Scapegoating and blame culture

      - I learnt so much about retail as well as the delivery process - I had an amazing experience working - The people who work at my store are incredibly kind and they helped me so much when i first started working

      Cons

      - would like a bit of a longer break! - a little higher pay for over 18's. i currently earn 6.80ph but would have liked at least 8.50

      Pros

      Staff discount and some ok incentives. Progression can be relatively quick depending on how far you're willing to push yourself.

      Cons

      Very little training. There is a childish cliquey culture, particularly among some management. Nobody seems to want to take responsibility for their errors, typically using the stockroom team as scape goats. Some managers can be quite spiteful and I have seen a number of staff leave due to this behaviour from above. Morale is typically low, as is the pay especially once you progress to a management level.
