The worst company culture in the UK

Pros

The brands/merchandise (which is almost not seen anywhere in the actual building) and the company name which does not live up to it's expectations

Cons

This company has the absolute worst company culture in the UK and is filled with depressive disturbed people. The former is a very big concern that apparently is not being handled the right way and makes it very difficult to work with the people around you or to deal with the extreme mood swings on a daily basis. I have seen grown people behave like 4 year olds and even talk in toddler voice and this is not even being frowned upon by Management and HR. People here are also very very rude to the point that many just walk away. Having a door slammed in your face and not receiving a thank you after holding the door for someone is very normal. The turnover of people resigning is very high and people even seem to walk away from pay rises and promotions. Lying, cheating and deceiving is applauded by HR so don't bother knocking on their door. The level of experience in the HR department is also very far from what it is supposed to be and since they cant seem to find qualified permanent staff to run this department they fill HR with contractors who obviously do not care as this is not their permanent job. Walking into this company on a daily basis is mind numbing and makes happy and healthy people depressive. The ratio of diversity is very very low as you can easily count the non white people on your two hands. The rule of thumb comes out of the USA and even though american policies do not work in the EU, they decide what happens either way which brings with it absurd delays and massive profit loss. The competition in the market is highly adored to the point that it seems they want to replicate the big D by hiring all their staff at whatever cost necessary. This of course makes it a very boring wannabe replica that clearly does not work. Contractors fill all the gaps for which they fail to find permanent staff that is just not willing to work here and keeps resigning. What annoys me the most is that it is a waste of time to bring your good energy, healthy mind, perseverance, knowledge and creativity to work, only to deal with mentally disturbed management that will knock all of the above down just because they are dealing with their mood swings again. Such a weird company, it's unbelievable.

Kind of a disaster for such a big name

Pros

Company looks good on resume, depending on your department some people a nice to work with

Cons

There are a lot of office politics and you get promotions based on who you know and who likes you and not on merit or your qualifications. It’s also very political if you want to change departments, you have to tell your manager that you’re interviewing with another department which can be very awkward and in some cases damaging to your career. Most managers and above have all started with nbc entry level and have never worked anywhere else and they aren’t very good at helping you develop professionally because in reality they don’t really have a lot of experience because they’ve spent their whole careers on one track in one company.

Total chaos

Pros

None that I can think of.

Cons

This place is a complete mad house. Constant shift in priorities with toxic and cut throat upper level management. There is zero structure and there are constant reorgs. It is completely chaotic. You are just a battery pack/cog in the system, and once you burn out, they will throw you out and replace you with zero qualms. Everyone is siloed and covering their own back. There is zero collaboration with other teams. You will also get randomly thrown on projects and work on things outside of your skill set and what they actually hired you to do. Extremely poor delegation and talent placement. They just care about the bottom line and getting work done to make themselves look good and will throw anyone they can on any random project to do so. The people that work here are also extremely annoying. I once had a coworker say directly to my face that they were purposely "going to trip me up" during our code review. What kind of engineering culture is that?! There was also another person who would constantly interject with out of context political stances in the middle of professional calls. No one cares about your personal politics, we're here to do a job. It's so ridiculous. If you want to burn out fast, work with toxic people, and not even do the role you were hired to do then this is the place for you. Listen to the bad reviews, they are not fake. Your career will rust and die here. I can't wait to get out.
