Pros

You get to work with a variety of different people. The work is chsllrnging.

Cons

Entitled people in many departments. Leadership is not very good. Politics are constantly embedded by the current administration. Work life balance is very poor regardless of what part of the agency you work at.

Pros

People at NASA are genuinely driven by and committed to the mission, extremely book smart, and passionate about their work. Civil servants enjoy job security. The work is very compelling. The NASA name is instantly known and respected.

Cons

The learning curve is incredibly steep for those coming into NASA from outside and there isn't a support structure to help. People are very intense, serious and formal. Bringing in new ideas from outside is challenging because the majority of people who work here are change averse. There are no perks for federal government employees: for example, agencies are not allowed to use government money to buy coffee or even dish soap or a sponge to allow people to wash their lunch dishes.
