Pros

I was a new graduate when i joined. It was good to learn new stuff. Friendly people always ready to help juniors.

Cons

Since i was new, i couldnt find Cons in the beginning. But later i realised my seniors are not satisfied with upper management decisions.

Pros

Excellent salary, bonus, benefits. Motorola pays very well. The physical work environments are clean and well kept. Motorola offers flexible work environment (working from home/telecommuting) if the job allows it

Cons

The excellent pay is required to keep what talent they can. Motorola does not respect engineering talent. They do respect an incompetent middle management and a vastly over rated upper management. The company has gone from 160k a decade ago to a tenth of that size, yet the management salaries are the same. Motorola has made a series of missteps in recent years (Iridium, Aspira, missing the digital telecom revolution, building the Harvard Plant... many, many others. This was due to a lack of strategic management and a belief Brownian Motion (pun intended) will create a new product every time an old drops. If this did work Management would be unnecessary. As it does not, the current management should be replaced with innovators and visionaries. Motorola also has a bizarre review process that alone is a reason to avoid this company.

Pros

I've been able to use my creativity in certain areas and develop new ways of doing things which has been rewarding. I also get five weeks of vacation a year which is nice. My schedule has been fairly flexible with the option of working from home on certain days. My co-workers have all been really great throughout the years.

Cons

For my area, I often don't understand the decisions made by management. There seems to be a lot of poor planning within the ranks. Often times an idea may be a good one, but the execution of it is really poor. Too many assumptions are made and things fall through the cracks. I don't believe that management take ownership for their mistakes. There have been a lot of layoffs over the years and they seem to keep coming. How can one really take ownership in a company when they could be just another day or season away from being let go? There is way too much communication over email and/or the expectation that email is checked very often. Plus, there's an expectation to "multitask" when studies have been done showing that people who multitask don't get much done and don't retain information. I don't believe that a good rewards system is in place or the current one that's in place is not too effective. Promotions have been very stagnant for the past several years.
