Pros

Steady hours if you have seniority; temperature-controlled work environment

Cons

I've worked for this company for about 7 years at multiple stores (due to relocating). I've noticed that aside from a few gems, most of the managers and DMs in this company are obnoxious, under qualified, and (some) are downright unintelligent. It's really frustrating to work for people whom you cannot respect. Furthermore, sexual harassment and overall gender inequality are major issues in this company. Inappropriate comments about staff and customers are made by employees and managers alike. Lastly, the union is jeopardizing the future of this company. All it does is provide employees with an excuse to do as little work as possible and avoid any negative reactions to their own poor behaviour.

Not That Great...

Pros

- Some decent co-workers, management and supervisors that are friendly and willing to help you. - Store interior might be a lot less depressing depending on your location

Cons

- You can get good hours and better positions if you know people. If you're a knowledgeable and experienced worker but don't have the connections, forget it. Favoritism and nepotism run wild. - Despite a few nice people, workplace culture can be pretty nasty. It's definitely not a very safe environment. Involves a good amount of walking on eggshells. A lot of gossip, sexism, bullying, name-calling, backstabbing and unnecessary blaming goes on, especially from the people who are favored and don't understand what their actual place in the workplace is. - Some managers and supervisors and unnecessarily cruel and power hungry. Often making up new rules and procedures every week. You maybe be told to do one thing one week and get yelled at for doing that exact thing the next week. - Budget cuts and lack of staff. Because of this you will lose hours and the shifts you do work you'll be working the amount of work meant for 2 or 3 which is really stressful and might cause you to stay later than expected. - Unforgiving attitude towards trivial mistakes. - Union means that people who should be fired (e.g. the bullies) won't be.
