Pros

The benefits are great and you can sometimes work outside of the office.

Cons

Management doesn't care about what you do. There is no real career advancement and outsourcing in the IT field in the topic of conversation these days

Pros

I started working at MetLife as a temp and in less than three months I became a permanent employee. I don't mean to brag about myself, but I wanted the permanent position as soon as I stepped foot into the building. A fellow employee and myself were encouraged to apply, and low and behold we both became permanent employees. I must say, this company bleeds advancement and constantly rewards people that exhibits a drive and determination to more than what their job title entails them to do. Right now, my manager is encouraging me to take the LOMA and Series 26 test trying to help further my career in financial services.

Cons

As far as i've seen, the only downside of the job that is internal would have to be the cafeteria. (haha) The taco salad needs to go!

Pros

There really is a great deal of flexibility for personal life and family situations, and employees are respected in spite of differences. People as a whole are very nice to work with, but the higher you go, the less diversity there is and it's more male-dominated. Then again, this may be typical in a country like Mexico and not found in MetLife USA.

Cons

Not much room for career opportunities or advances. Also, it depends what department you're in - there doesn't seem to be a single, unfiying culture across divisions. I have hjeard a variety of stories about Sr. Managers and Directors running their areas like tiny fiefdoms, so it's luck of the draw as to which one you get.
