Pros

Highly intellectual executives who try to communicate with staff very often. Great emphasis in understanding how Met makes money. Great attention to customer.

Cons

Very political. Aim is at talking, not doing. Core of the executive group has been together for over 20 years, not very open to accept new comers. Very strong old nutiual culture carried into a public company that at times doesn't behave like one.

Pros

MetLife is a strong and stable financial services company, which is more than most people can say about financial services companies in general. Overall, employees are treated respectfully and work-life balance is pretty good. We've recently gone through rounds of layoffs, just like every other company, and I've been very impressed with how MetLife has handled the situation, with grace and dignity.

Cons

Being such a large company makes change difficult to implement in MetLife. Much of the infrastructure is older and business has been conducted more or less the same for years. Management has been trying to make changes to become a "decision-driven organization" but results have been varied. Only time will tell whether this latest change will last and change the way we do business.

Pros

Very flexible, works around your schedule, friendly people

Cons

They started caring less about their people when the economy turned bad. OPEX kicked in and things just got worst. So much lay offs and hiring freeze all across the board. When I first started there, they made me believe that I had a great future there. With no bright future in sight, I left the company and glad to say in a much better place and company. Management isn't always the best. Issues with workers were not addressed, leading to the problems escalating...
