      Merck has some Pro's and Con's

      Pros

      Very understanding when it comes to taking time of for family, emergencies, etc. Very respectful of work/life balance. Good health benefits. Full vestiture of 401K on your first day of employment. Good 401k match.

      Cons

      Advancement doesn't really seem possible. Everyone who's there has been there for a very long time. Advancement isn't based on achievement or the quality of your work, just seniority. Middle management (at the West Point site in Lansdale, PA) is completely incompetent.

      Pros

      Merck is a good company with great values. They stand behind their product and never waiver on what the reason we do what we do is.

      Cons

      Policies, processes are put in place in order to better Mercks standing in our industry but when upper manangement has to implement those changes, the rules do not apply to them. There is an inconsistancy in the message that is passed down. We have a lot of good people willing to make sacrifices to make Merck as good as it once was but it is shown time and time again that the people do not matter. This is sad to see

      Pros

      Merck used to be a wonderful company to work for but the culture has changed and there is more stress to constantly achieve and get the paperwork completed perfectly and on time. it's not about selling but just remain in compliance Merck has good benefits and a competitive salary; Over the years they have hired too many reps who can no longer be effective with physicians as there are too many reps calling on physicians and now physicians don't want to see reps at all.
