Pros

The people, Mercer really does hire some of the best and brightest Location, they have offices worldwide, if you are able to travel with your position you can utilize other offices Large number of positions should you want to explore other lines of business If you depart with the company and return years later you come back to your same seniority and benefits

Cons

Terrible leadership, constantly changing which means vision and strategy is never fully developed or deployedTyp Terrible at keeping the talented candidates they hire due to low salaries, minimal promotions, no talent development and managers literally blocking employees from getting other positions. When they do promote it is often someone who doesn't do much but has been around awhile because they have lost all the other talented employees but want to pretend they promote from within, really this is just promoting more puppets to keep with the status qua. Benefits aren't great for being an HR consulting firm, you would think they would know what they're doing but I had better benefits at a nonprofit, seriously. Left hand is never talking to the right hand, so a lot of double work, waste of money and "do now ask for forgiveness later" approach to business.

Pros

I don't have five words.

Cons

The "motivation" is shame-based. Individual production numbers are posted daily on a public board. "Low producers" have their numbers written in red. Nobody is an individual. Special skills are not utilized. All that matters is "claims out the door". We're expected to go out of our way to help the members but are not given the time to do so. There are useless daily huddles where they ask why there are so many red numbers. Management doesn't understand what all we do and they don't understand why getting extra duties would hurt our production. Communication is very bad. There is rarely any follow-up to suggestions and questions. The workflow is VERY disorganized. Examiners are tired of apologizing to members. I wouldn't wish this job on my worst enemy.

Pros

Vacation days (If you were allowed to use tem), benefits

Cons

Bad management. Transitioning work to India to people with very little accountability and no knowledge of how the business is run in the U.S. .Sweat shop environment with some people doing most of the work while others with do very little just because they have higher positions .Bullying. Unprofessional work environment. Long hours. Cliquey. No work/life balance. Inadequate training..... Forget about your life and self respect when you start working at Mercer.
