Pros

Mercer is a large company with lots of plans. Lots of ideals and lots of areas of progression. None of that matters if you work in the call center.

Cons

Understaffed - currently only have around 10 agents handling the call volume of about 25agents. Staff are ignored and no support provided, exceopt the senior agents, CED and TMs who are great and always there. But the TMs can;t answer most things, the seniors and CED are used as agents so help when they can. Without them there would be no department. Mental health is taking a killing, so many people are off with stress, depression and anxiety. But no real assistance is provided. On return you get tossed back on the phones. We worked continuously throughout a pandemic open every day, 40+ calls queuing, over 1 hour wait times and we fough on. No thanks apart from the odd email. No bonus, even though management got theirs, not even a pay increase, which is already the around the lowest in the industry. No compensation at all, which is heart breaking.

Pros

Some colleagues who end up being like family

Cons

The only way to get anywhere in this company or receive any recognition is if you are “liked”, it is run based on favouritism so don’t expect any career progression. Management and team leaders are put in the position based on favouritism or cliques and not because of skill or knowledge so basically the team is run by clowns. Don’t even think about taking sick days because you will be questioned and made to feel bad like you’re lying/don’t have a valid excuse. When we are told to voice any concerns they are blatantly ignored and you’re made out to be like you’re feelings are invalid and unreasonable. Honestly wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to work here. They don’t retain good staff they would rather focus on how cheap they can pay people rather than the quality.
