Pros

Mercer is a good brand within its industry and employs some very smart people. They provide good client service. They promote people internally and grow people who are identified as high performers. The consultants are innovative and develop long-term relationships with many clients. Among its competitors, Mercer is well thought of.

Cons

Senior management fails to communicate honestly or frequently. To succeed there, one has to be willing to work very long hours despite the consulting firm's insistence that it values work/life balance. The company (and its holding company) are exceptionally top heavy. Mercer's billing rates are high, though on par with competitors. Still, as one rises within the ranks, he or she is saddled with such a high hourly billable rate that it's hard to continue to do any work for clients.

Pros

I love the flexible work schedule. As long as I get my work done there are no complaints about when I do it. I enjoy the collaborative relationships I have developed with my peers.

Cons

We often hear at the beginning of a year, "This is going to be a year of transition for us, but next year after these changes are in place things will get easier." It seems we are always changing course just before we cross the finish line.

Pros

Best for recent college grads who want consulting experience but still value work-life balance. You don't have to work the long hours like you do for other consulting firms. The people are really nice and they are very lenient about time off!

Cons

The work itself is not very interesting. I found myself on Tuesdays already wishing it was Friday. If you are looking for an exciting career, this is not the place to work.
