Pros

You meet some nice coworkers

Cons

Mercer is one of the worst companies I've ever worked for Mercer's very disorganized and has a HUGE lack of communication little to no training is provided but yet they toss you around to new assighments that you were not train for and they're very unprofessional and management are bullies and not approachable or personable at all their method is to intimidate you or make you fear them in the call center they scold you for asking questions or for help I dealt with sexual harassment from a manager on the floor I reported it along with 2 other co-workers who experience the same and we had proof we provided and they said they would handle it and they never did even after we beg management they ignore us and avoided us in the call center when we email them and saw them and they kept the same abuser over us and he bullied us daily you will get terrible anxiety working there because you're not appreciated or respected there Mercer treats it, employee, with no dignity and tries to manapulated you they punish you if you don't work over time and they lay off people all the time even great workers and keep who they like your disposable they treat their clients terrible I feel bad for the clients because they keep them on hold on the phone for hours only for the system to hang up on them and they love transfering them all over the place because they don't care and if you try to help them you get scolded because they want you to follow there method and transfer them Mercer under pays you and over works you and give you immposible goals and there so understaff I ended up leaving couldn't deal with the abuse anymore or micro mangement

Pros

My colleagues are some of the best in the industry - insightful, creative, innovative, collaborative, fun.

Cons

You have to threaten to leave to see any pay progression. The red tape is extreme. No trust in leadership below the Executive team. No reward for good people management. The performance metrics change frequently with poor communication of the changes. No appreciation for tenure - only focused on new blood for innovation. The new regime is a Gestapo and believe that business starts and ends in NYC. Psst - there is phenomenal talent outside of the Big Apple. Open your eyes!! The North America President is a pitbull in a skirt. She snaps judgement so quickly and is extremely inappropriate in her language and behavior. Her lackeys will do anything for her, sacrificing their integrity, business policies, legal advice and their own personal life. The minute you push back - you are a goner.

Pros

Benefits, work/life balance, cafeteria convenience

Cons

Mercer had one of the most robotic and soulless cultures I’ve ever worked in over my career. No one genuinely cared about anyone’s best interest but their own and the amount of petty corporate politics was mind blowing . While I was proud to tell people I worked at a large and established company, behind the scenes told a very different story. They were disorganized, inept, and lacked any empathy. Perhaps the worst interactions I experienced, who displayed these behaviors the most, were ironically with the People team leadership . It says a lot about a company when you have leadership displaying behaviors that they police other employees not to exhibit. It was shocking what I observed and heard from the People executive who should be advocating against toxicity, bullying, and discrimination - not being its ring leader. Culture starts at the top and I hope they begin embracing diverse and safe environments for all employees because it’s both embarrassing and sad to not do so at this point.
