Ownership. Unmatched.

Pros

Though the leader in Customer Experience Management (CEM), we're literally building a category creation company (Google before Google or Salesforce before Salesforce). Building something new like this is hard, but it's also a privilege to be a part of. I'm definitely tired, but I haven't felt this fulfilled in years. - Overwhelming, unapologetic focus on people and culture - High degree of ownership/authorship in both strategic and tactical decisions - Authentic, meaningful impact

Cons

- Again, building is hard and we make missteps along the way - More deliberate, defined communication is needed to share with a broader audience

Thanks for the feedback. I wholeheartedly agree with you on everything: that we're creating a category ("Google before Google", etc.), that the work is fulfilling, and that it can also be tiring. I hope you avail yourself of our open vacation policy to take time off and recharge. I also agree that we need to get much better at effective communication across our expanding company. We are experimenting with new communication channels -- for example, using pigeonhole to anonymously solicit questions during the last company meeting. If you have any other suggestions, particularly about how we can better cascade information, please e-mail me at amy.pressman@medallia.com.

The Olympics of Sales

Pros

- Unlimited opportunity both financially and professionally - The perfect balance of support/direction and autonomy - Incredible base of customer proof points - They actually want their salespeople to make a LOT of money - The culture supports a fail fast, learn fast "tree of trust" mentality - Hard work, creativity and success are celebrated regularly - You can bring your whole-self to work without fear

Cons

- Rapid growth means we're building a lot of the ship as it sails - Ramp time is substantial, especially if you have no industry experience - Selling a new segment to a broad set of stakeholders can be EXTREMELY challenging

Thanks for the great commentary. It was spot on. You and the rest of the sales team deserve an enormous shout out for the great work you're doing. Selling into a new category is not easy, yet you guys are crushing it. If there's anything more we can do to make this job easier, please let me know.

Pros

Great culture, great people. Empowered to take on new projects that you're passionate about. A lot of transparency about current state and actions.

Cons

Need to get really focused. We've tried to move too quickly on a large number of investments. While I think the risks were bold and important to take, it also pushes a lot of other things off the table. We try to do a lot of things all at once, and it causes a less than favorable work-life balance. Luckily I like my work, but I don't always like having to work late / on the weekends consistently.
