Pros

Teamwork, knowledge sharing and the work-life balance of the insurance industry. Senior folks regularly acknowledge the work of subordinates and almost shy away fom taking credit for the work of others.

Cons

High level of beurocracy, local chieftans and posturing, resistance to thinking outside the box at the day to day level. There have been so many fits and starts overt the last few years that people are wary of anyone touting solutions - potentially a disaster brewing but for the fact that most employees, those looking to create wealth and value, not simply take it, are team players willing to build for the the sake of being part of something larger than themselves.

Pros

- Plenty of time off - Opportunity for growth - I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for balance between work and time off. Vacation days are plentiful and easy to use. MMC also provides an opportunity for growth and advancement. I would strongly encourage someone to work here if advancement and balance are their main goals.

Cons

- Slow to for changes to happen

Pros

I think this is a great company for people just out of college looking to build their resume.

Cons

The benefits are not good- very few investment (and not good) choices for their 401k and the co-pays and costs for the health benefits are high. Do not take the company stock- it's a dog. The attitudes, especially in managemant are horrible- people are very rude here. Politeness and respect are not encouraged. People don't say please, thank you, or excuse me or hold doors. The dress code is lax to say the least. I guess once you get outside of Boston the attitudes change- that's what I have seen anyway. The bonus structure might be getting better this year. Right now it is based on favoritism and no one even denies that in management.
