Pros

My co-workers were fun to work with and I am still good friends with some of them to this day Free breakfast if you arrive early. Free lunch if you work through the lunch hour. Free dinner if you stay late to work. Every Friday at 5pm they had "Beer O'Clock" All the beer and wine you can drink You can very quickly move up in ranks. One of my Supervisors started out as a junior then got to supervisor in 1 year. Many people move up very fast.

Cons

A few of us found the job too repetitive. Very outdated software. The Linux version was outdated, the 3D apps were outdated, the inhouse tools were outdated. Even the email client that we used was outdated. The pipeline takes months to learn because of all the proprietary software. Even the messaging app is proprietary. I don't know why they didn't just use Slack or Microsoft Teams of Google Chat

Pros

Work on big films Work with talented engineers and artists

Cons

The strategy is - underbid for films, force junior staff to work overtime for free to make up for it and then let supervisors and producers bang on about how it was "a collaborative effort" in the promotional videos. Staff are promised progression and pay rises after proving they can do the job first, they usually leave after a year of this due to the company never quite managing to hold up their side of it. HR are there to represent the company and not the staff, they try and keep everything face-to-face to avoid paper trails of promises that won't be kept in the future. The company exploits junior staff trying to get into the industry, if they burn out after months of unpaid overtime and kicks up a fuss the company doesn't renew their contract. Far too many senior members of staff rely on abusive language to get the work done, this toxic atmosphere bleeds down the company and ambitious staff mimic those traits to get ahead. Management ignores the advice of specialists within the company and then can't understand why things aren't running smoothly months later. They then spend twice as much implementing what was advised when the issues cause clients to complain.
