Pros

The Software Department is amazing. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and great to work with.

Cons

MPC has grown very quickly over the last couple of years, unfortunately the management style has not adapted to this yet, and as a result the senior management continue to run MPC like it is a small company, specifically in their interference with some of the departments. While I am sure they do this with good intentions, the consequences are dire and have caused a massive churn in employees (which is totally unnecessary).

Pros

Some good shows, with plenty of opportunities to grab shots for your reel. Supervisors have a good eye. Colleagues are very nice, usually know their stuff and are helpful. Some nice amenities like breakfast and Friday mingling. Also hosts free courses (drawing, Yoga) and seminars sometimes. Production Coordinators give their best. HOD is an expert in his field, gives masterclasses on new tools and hosts other Artists for inter-department exchange of knowledge. Staff management was nice and helpful. Department has its own integrated software dev, who is very helpful and knowledgeable. Opportunities to transfer locations. HODs seem to be aware of the major issues and believable try to resolve them. (Detailed presentation about anonymous artist feedback and plans to resolve issues) A lot of paid overtime.

Cons

A large amount of shot work on multiple huge shows at once put a strain on organization, leads and resources. Some very repetitive tasks. Pressure to deliver shots in barely possible time frames. Sometimes very badly organized (especially in between departments). Some Lead Artists barely speak enough English to communicate properly. People in various departments have trouble with visa and work permits because MPC is late on paperwork, sometimes even resulting in people having to leave the country. Parts of the pipeline put unnecessary burden on artists.(Packaging and publishing is a nightmare sometimes) Barely enough Software Licenses resulting in multiple artists not being able to work for hours. Very low pay, with in-house academy graduates pushing mid-level artist out of the door or to the tech anim department. A lot of unnecessary and avoidable overtime.

Lots of Juniors

Pros

Good projects Nice senior management Responsive HR Flexible contracts

Cons

Most of the department were juniors so it takes a very very long time to complete tasks. Like 4x as long as usual to complete tasks so everything gets back-ended. The leads are pretty junior relative to their title. It means they can feel insecure about their position which causes some odd politics and immature behavior.
