Pros

Great exposure to great and brilliant people. There is a huge sense of empowerment here, so people feel really motivated to accomplish some pretty amazing things. Everyone here is excited about research and innovation, and it certainly provides a motivating atmosphere here. Over the past 4 years here as a grad student, I have noticed that upper administration is more strongly promoting well-roundedness.

Cons

Really competitive, for the most part. People will generally help you out, but not as much as you'd like. There's certainly a culture of working until you drop and bragging about your work loads, even though almost everyone here is equally busy.

Pros

The people are amazing to be around. There are many interesting projects happening all around campus. Everyone is very open to sharing their expertise and ideas with you. You have access to some of the greatest leaders in their fields. There are constantly opportunities to meet new people, network, and join interesting projects. As a research developer the job varies day to day and is very challenging and dynamic. Things never get boring.

Cons

The location, there is not enough green space for taking a breather. The food options on campus are not very ideal or healthy.

Pros

Intelligent people. Fantastic, fascinating colleagues. Stimulating environment, including groundbreaking research. University perks like gym & sports facilities, movie screenings, small grocery store, library access (electronic journals), occasional speakers, Ana's Taqueria.

Cons

Large, slow bureaucracy. Many offices, departments and schools operate in isolation of one another. There is even animosity between these units developed over years of perceived or real injustices. Little focus on good internal management.
