Pros

- Very good compensation and benefits, compared to many RA appointments - Excellent interdepartmental resources for research - Graduate student union

Cons

- Some departments are run informally; this is sometimes to everyone's benefit (being less bureaucratic) but can result in surprisingly unprofessional conduct - Communication, planning, and collaboration between and even within departments can be very poor

Pros

Respectful work environment, flexible schedule, lots of networking opportunities, high quality resources, collaborative spirit

Cons

Lack of representation/voice at the institute level. Pay is a little low for housing options close to mbta, but there's not enough parking for most people to commute via car.
