Pros

1. publish papers 2. got visibility 3. good for international students/scholars if they want to move to USA (or back to be be a faculty member) 4. might be able to get a child who is born in the US (with US citizenship) 5. research work which is time consuming but not very stressful 6. establish good relationship with wide range of scholars

Cons

1. Not stable job so need to move to the formal position as soon as possible 2. work with students who might not be professional (neither hard worker) 3. Low salary 4. Low social state 5. No benefit package 6. No free insurance package 7. poor life style according to the relatively long working hours to take care expts/research issues 8. may lost your job/life after a few years of postdoc without finding a proper faculty position

Pros

name value is the most factor. Good working area, and best institute in the world and best people to work good communication

Cons

contract is the worst choice at MIT, very low salary, many stressful work, sometimes hazard work, not many other benifits
