Pros

* Modern and bright offices * Interesting technology * Friendly colleagues

Cons

Unfortunately more cons than pros ... * Pay is terrible. They pay above average but this is no where near enough to afford the cost of living in Innsbruck. Make no mistake, Innsbruck is *terribly* expensive! * No "Betriebsrat" (employee representation council). Pretty much all companies in Austria have one, yet MED-EL does not. If you have a dispute with a colleague or management, well you are on your own ... * Objectionable and questionable practices of HR. Possibly the worst HR I have ever dealt with in a company * No possibility to home office even just once or twice a week. Or your child is sick or waiting on a plumber or electrician? Well you book that day as a holiday. Seriously? * Level of micromanagement is insane. The CEO signs off on everything from travel trips to small purchases * Canteen in Innsbruck caters for a handful of people (1000+ people work in the Innsbruck campus) and is the only part of the company which is not modernised. Staff tend to avoid eating there as generally the food is rubbish. A great way to demoralise staff! * Staff turnover is quite high (go figure ...)

Pros

As of this posting, NO pros. Current global pandemic created a vacuum of leadership that will be difficult to recover from unless many HUMAN RESOURCE ISSUES are addressed.

Cons

TOTAL disintegration of leadership & absolutely NO representation of anything remotely resembling HUMAN RESOURCES. Our mission is to provide needed services to the hearing impaired has been severely impacted by personal agendas & inflated egos.

Pros

Chilled environment and nice colleagues. Perfect if your only goal is getting your salary at the end of the month.

Cons

The company is not able to handle such a fast growth in a short period of time. Nevertheless, if you want to get a career, forget about it. NO BETRIEBSRAT: by law, all the companies with more than 50 employees need to have a union of workers that defends the employees' rights, Medel does not have it. Horrible HR, their role is to negotiate your (low) salary and defend the company and its management. This means that abuse of power, workplace bullying and general harassment do not exist, you get fired for REPORTING that. Micromanagement over the top, the CEO has to approve even the small little things and encourages teams and groups to compete against each other on the same projects. This means that several teams can work on the same things without sharing any information, so they end up in a conflict, being afraid of getting fired if they "lose" the competition. The only one that loses is the company, that doesn't get the value that it could get if these people would join forces instead of repeating each other's mistakes in such a political environment.
